Last year’s event, the first in the city, hosted 130 women. This year, the group is excited to welcome even more women and families.

“It is critical that pregnant women know that they are not alone. There are endless resources right in our community to help women, couples and families prepare for the birth of a child,” said María Teresa Garcia, RLM’s Community Outreach Coordinator. “We are thrilled to build on last year’s baby shower and reach even more women across our community. The baby shower is a real community celebration of life!”

LaTonya Lewis, RLM Community Outreach Coordinator, added, “Our goal is to provide both necessary resources, like car seats, strollers and pack n’ plays, as well as clothing, information guides and training. It’s a fun, celebratory gathering! All are welcome, including dads and other children, to come and share in this wonderful event in the city of Detroit.”

RLM will be joined by various community organizations that will have information tables at the event, including those offering child support information, parenting education, and infant CPR training. The event’s purpose is to address the emotional, spiritual, and financial needs of families, ensuring they have access to a wide range of resources and services.
